After completing his bachelor’s and juris doctorate in a short five years, P.J. Downyok began his career working for the State Attorney’s Office in the Twentieth Circuit, where he prosecuted thousands of cases from minor crimes to homicides. He discovered his passion for family law working exclusively with survivors of domestic and sexual violence at a non-profit, advising clients of their legal rights and remedies as well as representing them under a federal grant, helping them navigate sensitive and dangerous situations. After around two decades of practicing law, P.J. has tried over a hundred cases, nearly fifty as first chair in front of a jury, litigated in federal court, and has also worked as a trial and jury consultant.
He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Washington Bar, and the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida.
P.J. hails from the Chicagoland area, and is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law, where he was a recipient of a merit scholarship, and is a fervent University of Michigan fan, where he also received a merit scholarship. After his office hours striving to provide efficient, competent, effective representation with a personal touch to each of his clients, he is a traveler and an avid outdoorsman, and spends time co-parenting his son while seeing new places, camping, rowing, paddling, and fishing.

Alexis Downyok grew up in Sarasota Florida, graduating from the prestigious Pine View School in Osprey, then graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Criminology, a minor in Anthropology and a concentration in Psychology from the University of Florida. While at UF, Alexis worked on research that went on to be published in the June 2013 edition of the Social Sciences Journal “Deviant Behavior.” She had an additional article published in 2014 in an online publication, “SAGE Research case methods.” Alexis attended Law School at the University of Louisville Brandeis School. and was the co-chair of the Lambda Law Caucus for two years, graduating with her juris doctorate in 2012.
She is a member of the Florida Bar, Kentucky Bar, and the Federal Courts for the Western District of Kentucky.
Alexis began practicing law in Kentucky focusing on family law, estate planning, and bankruptcy. However, the pull of Florida was too great, and since moving back home to the Sunshine state, Mrs. Downyok continued her work as a family law attorney, narrowing her practice to family law matters for nearly ten years, and going on to found Downyok & Downyok, P.A. with P.J. Downyok, Esq., where she continues to focus on family law.
Outside of her family law practice, Alexis enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, their Old English Sheepdog “Maisy,” their Shih Tzu “Nickels,” their cat “Peaches,” and the fact that all three like her more than P.J.
